A perennial Montreux favorite returns to Switzerland for what seems the umpteenth time to funk up the crowd at the world’s premier music festival. George Clinton, aided on this slamming set thru the mighty P-Funk canon by the 20 some-odd piece P-Funk All-Stars ensemble tears the roof off the sucker. The PF live experience has always been characterized as an on-stage party, a rollicking celebration of life and uninhibited groove exchange between the vast array of characters/musicians on the stage. It’s a show where everybody is given opportunity to really shine.

Each player brings his/her own distinctive flavor and personality to the mix. Within you’ll find many stars of the show. The gritty, powerful vocal prowess of Steve Boyd on songs like Parliament’s anthemic "Bop Gun". Belita Woods silky voice twangings on the Funkadelic black radio staple of 1976 "Undisco Kidd". The sensuous breathy vox soaring of new schoolers Kim Manning and Kendra Foster on "Never Gonna Tell It" and "Bounce to This".

Michael ‘Kidd Funkadelic’ Hampton’s guitar clinics on "Maggot Brain" and "KneeDeep". The purple wizardry-woo of Bernie Worrell’s keys and apprentice Danny Bedrosian’s piano on "Whole Lotta Shakin’". Lily Haydin’s truly maudlin violin virtuoso. Shonda "Sativa" Clinton’s spit-fire weed rap over "Flashlight". The muddy bass and rhythm guitar flavors of OG Funkadelic Billy Bass Nelson . Ronkat Spearman doubles up on bass and vocals as Michael Clip Payne brings his funk originality to the stage.

So its all there, the dynamics and unparalleled heights of the P-Funk experience captured here on DVD in thrilling color and stunning picture and sound quality during the bands 2004 European swing. Through all this mob of groove I’d have to say the real stars of the set were the 2 horn men. Bennie Cowan and Greg Thomas, who have been with The P-Funk thang in one form or another since 1978.

Cowan, who doubled up on trumpet and flugelhorn added a smooth saucy jazzy mix of charts to the psychefunkadelic rhythmic mayhem machine. He and Thomas really showed a bonding on stage that can only come after eons of funk showmanship, they handled there business all night and spellbound the crowd with their jazzy chops. P-Funk is a state of mind, and then the condition and position of your ass. Let the Booty Shaking continue, go wiggle!!!!

George Clinton and Parliament / Funkadelic bring the party to the Montreux Jazz Festival in this 2004 appearance. This performance is an audio assault on the senses, as Clinton and company fuse together R&B, Funk, and Soul music. An overcrowded stage of singers, dancers and musicians give a high-energy performance, proving that George Clinton & Parliament / Funkadelic are as viable today as they were 30 years ago.

George Clinton & Parliament / Funkadelic have received a number of honors over their career. They are 1997 Rock And Roll Hall of Fame Inductees. They have earned a Lifetime Achievement Award from the NAACP's Image Awards. And in 2002, Spin Magazine ranked them #6 on their 50 Greatest Bands of All Time list.
